That Ian Is Insane

Recently, on the FuMP, there was a parody by Insane Ian.  He also made an entertaining video.  Now, I hadn’t seen the original until I clicked on the link he provided, but I liked it in its own right.  And I like how it ends better than the original*.

The first time I ran across Insane Ian, it was for his “You’re Pitiful” video of Weird Al‘s song (another instance in which I hadn’t seen the original video); both of which are funny.

Haiku Challenge: Days 1-7

I just found out about a haiku challenge (for the month of February) from someone who commented on one of my posts.  I decided to take a stab at it and got caught up within a couple of hours and then kept going until I ran out of steam.  But, for the sake of (relative) brevity, I’m only going to post my first seven for now.  The first day was a theme-free day, so I could just say that any of my haiku posts up to now count for that, but I decided to write a haiku about what I wrote about on the first.

I’m an omnivore
With flat teeth for crushing, and
Sharp ones for tearing.

Day 2 was inspired by Image1.

Sleeping little child
You lay peacefully for now
But wake all too soon.

Day 3 the theme was ‘mother’.

A comforting hug
Words that heal a wounded soul
That’s what mothers give.

Day 4 was  inspired by Image2.

The city’s fallen,
Survivors grab what they can
And hastily leave.

Day 5 the theme was ‘cynosure’. I had to look that one up.

Look to Polaris
The cynosure of the sea
The star to guide us.

Day 6 was inspired by Image3.

Bright eyes, laughing eyes,
Capturing your attention;
Will they look your way?

Day 7 the theme was ‘anger’.

Anger can be hot,
A burning desire, or cold,
And as hard as steel.

Survivor “Diet”

I watched the Survivor finale tonight and it reminded me of a joke diet I came up with some time ago:  eat rice and beans for six days a week and gorge on the seventh.  Of course, the lean days could (and probably should) be expanded to include fruits, vegetables, other vegetation, and small amounts of lean meats, like chicken.  Possibly even insects could be included, though I doubt many people would want to include them.  The free-for-all days could literally include anything, or they could be more moderate and only include a certain amount of excess.  I’ve noticed that the food rewards tend to include a decent amount of protein and fats which would otherwise likely be lacking in their regular food stores.  This indicates to me that the people running the show are probably trying to help ensure the the participants get something approaching a balanced diet while they are on the show; and people do need a certain amount of fat in their diet.

This whole silly idea came from the fact that I noticed that people lose weight while they are on Survivor.  Sure, they probably aren’t getting enough food much of the time considering the fact that they have to live in a rather hostile environment, one in which they can’t regulate the heat and are unlikely to be able to stay dry if it rains.  But, the whole thing is silly in the extreme, so it’s not like I’d actually advocate trying to follow it.  On the other hand, the idea of eating fresh foods that aren’t highly processed is a good one, and could be a reasonable take-away from the whole thought process.

CAD also has some new plushies, a big Zeke plushie and a Death doll (I like that alliteration). But, some people might be afraid to touch the Death one lest it kill them.  ;D

LFG is selling a bunny/Lil Richard combo (or separately, if you wish).  Right now, they are just on pre-order, and will be for some time it seems, but I think they are adorable enough to mention even now.

Suck or Bite

There have been a lot of new stories about vampires and werewolves.  And, (at least partly) because of that, my oldest brother and I have started to say, ‘vampires suck’ and ‘werewolves bite’.  So, for all those out there who wish to be a supernatural being, I ask, ‘do you suck or do you bite?’
