One could be a fool
Waving palms around, but then
Not putting them down.

Glad Tidings

I guess it’s befitting to say
Merry Christmas on this day.

Joyeux Noël, Feliz Navidad, Frohe Weihnachten,
Or even Fröhliche Weihnachten.

And I’ll add Happy Holidays,
And a Joyous New Year.

Did Phil see his shadow?
Did he even get out in all this snow?
Do we really think it matters?
Wouldn’t rolling some dice
Or flipping a coin be just as effective?
Just as probable of being right?
And how do we know
Whether he really sees his shadow or not?
Does he talk?  Can he tell us?
And how far is his influence?
Where does his prediction end?
The state?  The country?  The hemisphere?
For the southern ‘sphere is surely too far
As it is summer there.

Good Riddance in Times Square

Say good riddance to
All the bad things that happened
Throughout 2010.

twenty-ten

I heard about Good Riddance Day on the news and thought it was a good idea.  Just like people make resolutions at the beginning of the year, it’s a complementary idea to let go of things at the end of it.  I think it sounds like a fun idea even though it was only held in Times Square.

Save Some Daylight?

I’ve never bought into daylight saving time
And blame it on Ben Franklin
And his early-thinking ways.
Let people wake when they wish
And work when they wish,
And, generally, loosen up a bit.

Besides, it doesn’t actually save any time
Daylight or otherwise.
And some people think it does,
Which is just annoying to me.

A hairy spider
Is reaching out towards me,
Perched on the bookshelf.

not scary

My brother positioned a large, fake spider (Hallowe’en decoration) on the bookshelf.

I was reminded again that Breast Cancer Awareness Month is coming up, so I’m picking another pink-ish theme, Bueno. I may or may not remember to change it at the end of the month.
