*shudder*

One sticks his tongue in the milk as a lure and eats his brethren.  The whole thing makes me want to not buy the product.

Super Weird Halftime Show?

“Weird Al” would play the
Super bowl halftime show if
They were to asked him.

AWESOME!!!

I would totally watch that.  I don’t generally make an effort to watch the Super bowl, but I would if “Weird Al” were doing the halftime show.  I’d probably stop watching after the halftime show was over (and find something else to do as I half-watched before it), but that would be something I’d love to catch.

Pip(p)a News

The internet down;
And a royal relative
Who isn’t amused.

Middleton

Ok, so it wasn’t exactly down; it was a protest that had something like 7000 participants.

And Pippa should probably try to use the attention to her advantage; as I understand it, she has a business she could be plugging, and I think I heard she has a book she’s going to publish.  So, she could use the attention to bring light to  those things.  Heck, she could even pick some sort of charitable organization and bring light to that at well.  At least it can be truly said that she didn’t ask for the attention, it was thrust upon her; but now that she has it, she might as well use it.

NaNo 2011 and Other Things

NaNoWriMo is here again, and, of course, I’m participating.  Day 1 I wrote 1713; day 2 I got to 3439, day 3 I got to 5113, day 4 I got to 6825, day 5 I got to 8507, and day 6 I got to 10200.  Interestingly, Devo Spice is participating this year; I wish him good luck.

In other news, there was an earthquake in Oklahoma last night that was big enough that I felt it at about 10:55.  I thought it was just a wind gust at first, even though it was rather sustained for that.

In still other news, on the local news they did a special on one of a kind towns in Kansas, and they asked people to write on Facebook what makes their town one of a kind.  Well, I don’t have a Facebook account, and I would have felt almost as compelled to write about other towns I’ve been to as the one I live in now.  And, besides, if they wanted to find what made any one town ‘unique’ they could just go to that town’s Wikipedia page and look for something.  Now, I know that not every town will have much more than a stub, in which case uniqueness would be hard to find, or, if the town’s small enough, it may not have a page at all (I don’t know what they consider relevant or notable).

Potentially Offensive

Manly diet drink
That’s 10 calories;
Almost offensive.

manly women

There’s this ad that starts out looking like it’s an ad for an adventure movie, and then the guy in it turns to the crowd and says something like, ‘ladies, are you enjoying this?  Of course you’re not’.  And I can’t help but think, ‘are you serious?  Of course, there are some women who would be interested; but now that you’ve said that, they might not be.’  I mean, I know they’re trying to sell a diet drink to men, but that doesn’t mean that they have to be potentially offensive to that subsection of women.

Potpourri and Bath Salts

I keep hearing about people
Who smoke (or snort, I think)
Potpourri and bath salts.

What are they thinking?
I want to know.
Especially of those labeled
“Not for human consumption”.
And the manufactures can’t leave that out
Or they would surely be sued
(If they haven’t been already).

People are now pushing to
Make these things totally illegal.
(Like that’s going to stop people
From doing things that are completely stupid).

Maybe making ingestion illegal
Would be a solution.
But, somehow, I don’t think that would work.
It’s not like the products are marketed that way
And they’re already pushing illegality.

Let’s make aerosol paint illegal
Let’s lock up mouthwash
Let’s get rid of cough syrup
Let’s ban bad foods, while we’re at it.
Maybe these things should be regulated
(If even that’s the right step).

But, wouldn’t it be better
To just make sure people are informed?
Let them know to beware of misuse
Let them know fat, sugar, and calorie content
And other nutritional information.

Let people decide what they wish to expose themselves to,
At least to some extent.

Regulations aren’t always wrong
But they’re not always right either.
If it’s mostly a personal issue
Then it should probably be a personal choice.

Royal Something

Unless you’ve been living under a rock or otherwise avoiding the media, you know that Prince William married Kate Middleton today.  For the most part, I don’t care.  I mean, I’m sure they’re a nice enough couple; they seem to get along well enough.  But, I don’t know them so I don’t really know for sure.  And I’m happy enough for them in a general sense, like I would be for any famous couple that has a happy event, but it’s just not that important to me personally.  I probably wouldn’t have even watched the wedding if my mother hadn’t wanted to.  Although, I would likely have watched the highlights on the news (no point in avoiding to that extent).  I hope they have a good life together, but I don’t need proof that they are like me.  I already know this.  But I also know that they are different because they have responsibilities that I never will, and don’t envy.  I can see the downside of having a public life.  Fortunately, they seem to have learned how to hold on to a measure of privacy.  I think that will be key for them.  So, like I said, I wish them well, just like I wish anyone else well as well.

That Ian Is Insane

Recently, on the FuMP, there was a parody by Insane Ian.  He also made an entertaining video.  Now, I hadn’t seen the original until I clicked on the link he provided, but I liked it in its own right.  And I like how it ends better than the original*.

The first time I ran across Insane Ian, it was for his “You’re Pitiful” video of Weird Al‘s song (another instance in which I hadn’t seen the original video); both of which are funny.

The first time I ran across Insane Ian, he said ouch!

*it’s ***SPOILER ALERT*** borderline suicidal.
