Jumped in Farscape-1
For a quick little test drive;
Wormhole sucked it in.

Red Shirts? Really?!
… Do they have a death wish?
There’s a protest group that calls themselves the ‘red shirts’; and the first thing I think of when I hear that is the ‘red shirts‘ on Star Trek, the guys who always get killed in landing parties. Now, I know that the people who get killed don’t always wear red shirts, but they do a lot of the time. So much so that the term came about and shows like Stargate have had characters die wearing red.
So, when I heard about ‘red shirt’ protest group in Bangkok, I can’t help but wonder if they have a death wish, despite the fact that I highly doubt they know about (or care about, for that matter) the Star Trek red-shirts.

Legend of the Seeker
I’ve been watching Legend of the Seeker off and on for a while now. When I first saw it, it had the vague feeling of being a rip-off of something, but I couldn’t say what (and still can’t except to say some kind of fantasy). Still, I like watching it, and find it interesting; I don’t know exactly why, but I do.

Dollhouse DVD
I wouldn’t mind getting Dollhouse Season One. I think it’s a really interesting show because of the concepts it explores.

Farscape comic book
I would love to have this. Farscape was awesome when it was on TV; so, I’m glad to see that the story has been continued after it got cancelled.

Capt. Malcolm Castle
Last night, on Castle, Nathan Fillion briefly dressed up like Mal Reynolds, his character on Firefly. My mom thinks I’m the only one who’ll recognise this; I doubt she’s right. (I have this theory that once someone has sci-fi fans, they’ll have fans for life no matter what they go on to do.)

District 9
I’ve seen a few previews for District 9 but really didn’t get a good idea what the movie as about from them. This review, however, actually made it sound interesting. The simple mention of Alien Nation was enough for me to take note; I loved that show. The fact that Peter Jackson is a producer made me hopeful, but without more information I couldn’t be sure. And really, even now, I can’t be sure, but I have a better idea about the movie that leads me to believe I’ll like it if I ever get to see it.

I’m a Trekkie
At least, by the Luke Ski definition, I kinda am a Trekkie; although,I don’t do everything in the skit. I’ve always considered the Trekkie vs Trekker debate silly, but I guess I don’t get why one is an insult while the other isn’t; to me they both just mean a Star Trek fan, unless you’re referring to the Luke Ski definition. And if you’re referring to that, you could just as easily use fanboy or fangirl (his little blurb at the beginning pretty much says that), or maybe even nerd. Most of the stuff in the skit is related to science fiction or fantasy, but there are a few things are about other ‘nerdy’ interests. I’m loath to quote parts of it because he requests that people only quote the whole page, and even though I’ve linked to it, I feel I should respect that.

Universal Health Care
Imagine a spaceship landing in a farmer’s field. The ramps comes down and a few almond-eyed aliens hobble down it. They are met by the angry farmer who asks them what they’re doing and why did they have to destroy his field. They answer that their ship is on it’s last leg and they’ve come all the way across the galaxy for the universal health care.
I was reminded of this story idea because of this. I know it’s a tenuous connection at best, but I’ve had this idea for a while and haven’t really done anything with it. This attempt could be considered a very rough first draft.

Star Trek Zero
I recently saw the Star Trek reboot. I encourage anyone who hasn’t seen it but is still critical of it to actually go see it, and to keep an open mind. It’s not the same back-story as the original, but there’s a good reason for that. So, go see it and find out why it’s different.
Each of the main characters in it gets a spotlight that was identifiable from the original series. I have to admit that I missed Nurse Chapel, but maybe she wasn’t as main a character as I remember. But, if they make a sequel to the reboot, then they might have her in it. If they do, then she should probably hit on Kirk instead of Spock, for a couple of reasons. One of those reasons comes directly from the movie, so I won’t get into it here. But the other comes from the idea that the captains (at least in the first two series) represent Roddenberry. Majel Barrett (who was married to Gene Roddenberry) played Nurse Chapel, so having her character hitting on Kirk would be fun.
