That Ian Is Insane

Recently, on the FuMP, there was a parody by Insane Ian.  He also made an entertaining video.  Now, I hadn’t seen the original until I clicked on the link he provided, but I liked it in its own right.  And I like how it ends better than the original*.

The first time I ran across Insane Ian, it was for his “You’re Pitiful” video of Weird Al‘s song (another instance in which I hadn’t seen the original video); both of which are funny.

The first time I ran across Insane Ian, he said ouch!

*it’s ***SPOILER ALERT*** borderline suicidal.

My last post reminded me of Superdickery.  It’s a website that has pages from the Superman comics that show him acting like a dick.

Haiku Challenge: Days 1-7

I just found out about a haiku challenge (for the month of February) from someone who commented on one of my posts.  I decided to take a stab at it and got caught up within a couple of hours and then kept going until I ran out of steam.  But, for the sake of (relative) brevity, I’m only going to post my first seven for now.  The first day was a theme-free day, so I could just say that any of my haiku posts up to now count for that, but I decided to write a haiku about what I wrote about on the first.

I’m an omnivore
With flat teeth for crushing, and
Sharp ones for tearing.

Day 2 was inspired by Image1.

Sleeping little child
You lay peacefully for now
But wake all too soon.

Day 3 the theme was ‘mother’.

A comforting hug
Words that heal a wounded soul
That’s what mothers give.

Day 4 was  inspired by Image2.

The city’s fallen,
Survivors grab what they can
And hastily leave.

Day 5 the theme was ‘cynosure’. I had to look that one up.

Look to Polaris
The cynosure of the sea
The star to guide us.

Day 6 was inspired by Image3.

Bright eyes, laughing eyes,
Capturing your attention;
Will they look your way?

Day 7 the theme was ‘anger’.

Anger can be hot,
A burning desire, or cold,
And as hard as steel.

Hey, Check This Out!

I ran across this, and I thought I’d share the link with anyone who might be following me.  I think the story is a good one because it points out duality of the prayer.  It doesn’t address the fact that the other side is probably making the same prayer (but for their side), but I don’t think it needs to do that to get the point across.

Have You Met TED?

Recently, one of the comics I follow suggested their followers check out TED, so I did, sort of.  I think the video I tried to watch didn’t load right because I’m on dial-up.  But, it looks like an interesting site.  The topics I saw featured on the site reminded me of things I’d see on PBS, so that’s definitely a plus.

Fun Warning Label

A friend suggested I read this.  It’s a ‘warning label’ for a package of pens.  I found it rather amusing; and I liked the ‘consult a teacher’ recommendation.

TimCAD recently linked to this, saying he’d kick anyone he saw wearing it in the space bar.  A part of me wonders if it’s real, even as another part of me says, ‘they stole my idea’, although they really didn’t because my idea would be significantly less noticeable (someone would have to look closely to notice what I envision).  I don’t know if my idea is even feasible yet; incorporating a computer into clothing probably isn’t easy yet.  I’m pretty sure I’ve heard of cloth that can conduct electricity, but I doubt my idea would be doable yet.

As I was looking for pictures of fractals yesterday, I ran across this awesome site.  It has two pages of various fractals, but that’s not the only thing it has.  Among the list of content it has a Bible link, which I thought was unusual but awesome, too.  I almost thought I was the only Christian who likes math and science.  Almost; I have a few friends and family that would fit in that category, but it still seems to be a rare combination and I’m glad to have found another person who fits in that group.
